Are You Ready For Some Football?
This past weekend my son had his first flag football game against the Sooners. Most of the game consisted of running plays, but we actually pull off a screen pass that went really well. It was fun watching them on the field. After a couple of plays, they seemed to catch on to what was going on. He almost had a touchdown, but his loco legs got a hold of him and brought him down.
Despite a few little meltdowns and a fire ant attack, he did good. But most importantly, he had fun.

Nikon D80 Challenge #85 – In My Kitchen
I missed challenge #84, so I thought I’d leave a link for you to check out the submitted photos. D80 Challenge #85 was “In My Kitchen”, where we were asked to take a good look in our kitchen and see something that could be a nice subject for a photo. We had to create something using only items found in our kitchen.
My son had just recently drawn a picture of a monster in school. He wanted us to put it on the refrigerator, so I used it as the subject of my challenge entry. The only real editing was a crop and a little extra contrast.

Surprise!
This past weekend my wife and sister-in-law threw a surprise birthday party for my mother-in-law. It turned out really nice and I was able to get a lot of shots of the festivities. Like I mentioned in my DSN post, I don’t get to shoot a lot of events, so I enjoy it when I get the chance. This is what photography is all about. Capturing those special memories you want to keep forever.
Taking indoor, low light photos is always a challenge when you don’t have a good lens, so most of the pictures were doctored up a little. I didn’t break out my external flash, so I used the on-camera one which had to be toned down some in post processing. I also found auto focusing was an issue at times, but the Nikon did pretty good with picking out the right settings in Priority mode.

Nikon D80 Challenge #83 – Happiness
Yes, I am behind in posting my challenge photos, but I plan on getting the rest up this weekend. I sort of lucked up on getting this shot for challenge #83 – Happiness. I was outside taking some pictures and this photo stood out at me. I’m going to upload the original later because I had to do some editing to make it just right. There was a phone pole in the background that I got rid of using the cloning tool and I changed the color to sepia to get the old photo look that I was trying to achieve.

Dallas South News Opening Photos
I rarely get the chance to take photos at an actual event, so I thought I’d bring my camera. I should have shot in RAW because I always have to lighten my indoor shots (I need a better lens) and RAW gives you a lot more control when editing. I
Here’s the original post I did about the event at theotalks.net.
