Are You Ready For Some Football?

This past weekend my son had his first flag football game against the Sooners. Most of the game consisted of running plays, but we actually pull off a screen pass that went really well. It was fun watching them on the field. After a couple of plays, they seemed to catch on to what was going on. He almost had a touchdown, but his loco legs got a hold of him and brought him down.

Despite a few little meltdowns and a fire ant attack, he did good. But most importantly, he had fun.

Conference Fun

I’m a big fan of action photos. I took these photos at a youth conference our church had in Waxahachie, TX. Chaperoning a group of youth boys is a lot of work, but I had fun and got some pretty cool shots of them in action. The indoor basketball shots were the hardest because of the low light and fast movements. I had to set the ISO to about 800 and used an exposure of about 1/100s. Of course I had to increase the light in post-processing to make the photo a little brighter.

Gone Fishing

My son kept bugging me about going out fishing again, so I took him back out a couple of weeks ago. The first time we went he caught something, so I guess he expected it to happen again. Well it didn’t and he was a little disappointed when we had to go. He didn’t realize this was a lesson in patience and casting. I didn’t put a hook on his reel because I wanted to see how he did when it came to casting on his own. He did pretty good, but I’m happy I didn’t put the hook on because he would have hooked himself a lot that day (just call it fatherly intuition). While we were there, I captured some photos of him doing his thing.

DIY T-Ball Photos

This year my oldest son played his first team sport. We had to buy all the equipment he needed and also got some parent team shirts made. We were excited to see him play and he really enjoyed himself. As parents we had a lot of fun watching the team play and I honestly have to say it was the most comical thing I’ve seen in a while. After the season, they took a group team and an individual photo. I thought the photos game out nice, but the different packages were a grip and I wanted to see him in some more poses. So, I did my own baseball photo shoot and got what I wanted.

Here are a few of the pictures I took:

First Photo

This is one of the first photos that I took with my D80 that I thought came out pretty good. I was just snapping pictures of my son playing in the park and I caught him just before he started rocking back and forth. It just so happened the sun was in a good place and didn’t affect the lighting. I did crop and add a soft glow in Gimp during post-processing.
